The new EP of Gabi Hartmann « Little Song Lines » is like an interlude or a breathing space between her first album and the upcoming second album. Comprised of acoustic songs recorded live, it features Gabi playing guitar and singing at the same time without any click and very few arrangements. In the tradition of folk singer songwriters in an intimate atmosphere, the recording captures the essence of songs and stories in its most simple and raw form. The title, Little SongLines, is inspired by the Australian Aborigine’s Songlines, which is a system, a vast labyrinth, of invisibles paths like a map around the Australian desert, where songs act as guardians of the spiritual world and ancestors. What if songs for singers and composers are powerful memories of life and could help them to connect and reconnect with deep feelings and to find the answers of many questions?

In this secret and sad place Gabi Hartmann shares the intimate side of herself, presenting not only alternative versions of songs from her last album but also a cover of the Mexican/Canadian singer and composer Lhasa de Sela (a strong influence in Gabi's music, as well as a female role model). There’s also a new composition, "Nowhere To Hide". With the french song“L'amour Incompris” and the Sudanese traditional protest song “Azza Fi Awak,” which features the flutist Ghandi Adam, Gabi celebrates the meeting of cultures
 
Le nouvel EP de Gabi Hartmann « Little Songlines » est pensé comme un interlude, un souffle, entre son premier album et son second, actuellement en préparation. Composé de morceaux acoustiques enregistrés en live, dans cet EP, Gabi chante tout en s’accompagnant à la guitare, sans aucun click et très peu d’arrangements. Dans la tradition des chanteurs et auteurs-compositeurs de folk, dans une atmosphère intimiste, l’enregistrement capture l’essence des chansons, leurs histoires, dans leurs formes les plus pures et brutes. Le titre, Little Songlines, est inspiré des chants de pistes des aborigènes australiens, véritable système, vaste labyrinthe de chemins invisibles comme une carte du désert, où les chants agissent comme des gardiens du monde spirituel des ancêtres. Et si les chansons étaient, pour les artistes, de puissants vecteurs de souvenirs et leur permettaient de se connecter à des émotions fortes pour trouver des réponses à leur questions les plus enfouies ?
 
Depuis cet endroit secret et triste, Gabi Hartmann partage une part plus intime, présentant non seulement de nouvelles versions de morceaux de son ancien album, et s'inspire également d'une cover de la chanteuse et compositrice Mexicano-Canadienne Lhasa de Sela (qui a une grande influence dans le travail de Gabi et qui est aussi un modèle féminin de premier plan). On y découvre également une nouvelle chanson, ‘Nowhere To Hide’, la chanson française ‘L’amour incompris’ et un morceau contestataire ‘Azza Fi Awak’, magnifié par le flûtiste Ghandi Adam. Encore et encore, Gabi ne cesse de célébrer le mélange des cultures.
